Day 8 - 17/3/2012 - Hong Kong

Usual start to the day. Breakfast in lounge area. Walked upto Mong Kok to Ladies Market, thought it opened at 10am but quickly realised it was a later start today on Saturday.
Langham Place escalator
Went into Langham Place shops (we had previously stayed here twice), so wanted to show Mike the very long escalator and have a coffee while the market was setting up.
Very humid today, reached 26 degrees, so an iced coffee was in order. Went back to markets and still not open so decided to get MTR and go to the Peak as it was such a nice day.
Star Ferry
Got half way up the hill to the Peak tram and saw a long queue of people. Someone told us there was a 90 minute wait so we decided to abandon this idea. (we were later told that the tram had broken down).
3 Tiers of yum!!
Got a taxi to star ferry and caught the ferry back over to Tsim Sha Tsui. Still an hour until high tea at the Peninsula Hotel but went in anyway. Had a look at the shops in there and then got in the queue, in fact we were first in line :-). They seated us 15 mins early in the end so it was not a long wait.
High Tea - Penninsula
Thoroughly enjoyed high tea. Then walked round to Delaney's to watch Highlanders v. Hurricanes. Got MTR back to Mong Kok and wandered through the Ladies Market. Mike did more shopping than us again, he is doing well for someone who does not like shopping! :-)
Ladies Market
Walked back to hotel. Went to cocktail hour and got chatting to a couple from Brisbane who were also Irish (St Patricks day today).
About 8:30pm decided to go and get dinner. Went to Bali Restaurant. Food was great, decor amusing - still had Christmas decorations up and also Happy Birthday signs! Mike ordered for us, great rice and lots of satay.
Back for a shower and to finalise packing as heading into Shenzhen tomorrow. No Facebook, twitter or diet coke!!!.
